Dear Readers
By the time this magazine drops through your door, we hope
the weather will have sorted itself out so everyone can enjoy
the numerous festivals and fairs that are planned for the
next couple of months!
In this edition, as Hyde Park gears up for its fabulous
Unity Day, concern is expressed about how some people
are destroying this lovely facility; encouraged by HDT’s
success with Bennett Road Primary School, the Royal Park
Community Consortium continues its efforts to acquire
the old Royal Park School building; and Councillor Martin
Hamilton gives us a quick update on the Arndale Centre
renovation and urges people to tidy away their bins after
collection - you could get fined! In addition, South Parade
Baptist Church celebrates 100 years at its North Lane site;
there’s a new social network in Headingley; and there’s
Shakespeare at Dagmar Wood again!
Every month we get phone calls, letters and emails from
readers with various queries and we do our best to answer
them all. A number of these, we feel, could have interested
other readers too - so, we are going to introduce a ‘Letters
Page’ in the September edition. Every month we will print
a selection of your letters, and there will be a ‘Star Letter’
which will receive a prize!
If you haven’t tried Blink yet, give it a go - hundreds of you
have already. Blink is a super way to link business to the
community and it is exclusive to the North Leeds area. See
page ?? for more information.
Don’t forget our new Letters Page in September. Write to us
by the deadline on 1st August and yours could be one of the
featured letters.
Kind regards.
Carole & Jack
